Cat Supports Office Chair

Admin October 14, 2026

Cat supporting an office chair is an interesting interactive behavior exhibited by cats after establishing a close relationship with employees.

Behavioral Manifestations

In a company environment, once employees and cats become familiar with each other, cats will display unique 'service' behaviors. For example, some cats will rush over as soon as they see a specific employee coming to work. Taking a young lady as an example, the cat will actively straighten her office chair and rotate it vigorously to ensure that the chair is in a suitable position for sitting before the young lady arrives. This behavior is not accidental but a natural manifestation after cats have spent a long time with employees and established a deep emotional connection.

Reasons for the Behavior

  • Emotional Dependence: Cats are emotionally rich animals. When they establish a close relationship with humans, they will develop dependence and trust in humans. In the company, employees often accompany cats, providing them with food, care, and opportunities to play. As a result, cats will regard employees as their 'family members' or 'companions'. The act of supporting an office chair may be a way for cats to express their love and concern for employees, just as humans do thoughtful little things for their friends.
  • Curiosity and Exploratory Desire: Cats are born with a strong sense of curiosity and exploratory desire. An office chair is an interesting object for cats that can rotate and move. They may be attracted by the rotating function of the office chair and satisfy their curiosity and exploratory desire by rotating it. At the same time, while rotating the chair, cats can also feel their own strength and sense of control.
  • Imitative Behavior: Cats have strong observation and imitation abilities. In the company, they may observe how employees use office chairs and thus imitate their behavior. When seeing employees sitting on chairs to work or rest, cats may think that rotating the chair is an interesting activity and then try to rotate it themselves, even actively straightening the chair for employees.
