Placing Office Chairs in Cars
Admin October 09, 2026
Office chairs can be placed in cars, but the handling strategy needs to be adjusted according to the car model. The specific steps and precautions are as follows:

I. Disassembly and Packaging
- Component Disassembly: Prioritize the disassembly of detachable components such as chair legs, armrests, and headrests. If the chair has a modular design (e.g., a detachable backrest), the handling process can be further simplified. After disassembly, small parts such as screws and gas cylinders should be uniformly placed in sealed bags to prevent loss.
- Protective Packaging: Wrap all components with soft cloth or bubble wrap, especially metal edges or sharp parts, to prevent scratches on the car interior. If the chair surface is made of leather or mesh fabric, an additional protective layer is required.
II. Car Model Adaptation Plan
- SUV/MPV Models: For models like the Tiguan L with a large trunk opening and adjustable floor, the complete chair or only a few disassembled components can be directly loaded. If the chair height exceeds the trunk limit, try placing the backrest at a 45-degree angle or adjusting the angle of the rear seats to increase space.
- Regular Cars: Compact models like the Corolla require the chair to be divided into multiple parts for separate loading. If the chair is too tall (e.g., a gaming chair), further disassembly of the backrest or the use of a small truck for transportation is necessary. The trunk depth of compact models is usually less than 80 centimeters, so the disassembled components need to be reasonably stacked to avoid obstructing the rearview mirror or affecting driving safety.
III. Handling and Fixing
- Protecting Car Doors and Interior: Place towels or bubble wrap at the contact points between the chair and the car doors to prevent scratches during handling. If the chair is heavy, it is recommended that two people collaborate to handle it to avoid deformation of the car doors due to unilateral force.
- Fixing in the Car: Use ropes or straps to secure the chair in the trunk to ensure it does not slide and impact during sudden braking. The seat cushion can be laid flat at the bottom of the trunk, the backrest can stand upright against the rear seats, and small parts such as gas cylinders and screws can be placed in the corners and pressed down with heavy objects.
- Regulatory Compliance: According to traffic regulations, transporting personal items in a private car does not count as mixed passenger and cargo transportation, but it is necessary to ensure that the items are fixed and do not obstruct the view of the rearview mirror or side windows inside the car. If the chair is too large, it is recommended to choose a moving company or freight service.
IV. Labor-Saving Suggestions
- Specialized Tools: Purchase a specialized transport bag for computer chairs to reduce disassembly steps and protect the integrity of the chair.
- Folding Chairs: Prioritize the selection of foldable ergonomic chairs. After folding, they are less than 15 centimeters thick and can easily fit into the rear seats or trunk of a car without disassembly.
- Professional Services: If frequent handling is required, contact a moving company or freight platform to reduce the risk of self-operation.
