There are various conversion options, with the most common being to replace the middle row with more powerful aviation seats that offer multiple functions such as forward and backward movement, rotation, electric massage, ventilation, and heating. A simpler and more cost-effective option is to convert the seats into home computer chairs or office chairs. The process involves obtaining a GL8 middle row seat (noting the model), preparing an adapter plate and a swivel chair base with universal wheels, securing the adapter plate between the seat and the swivel chair base, and connecting the wiring (if the seat has USB charging capabilities). This conversion option is inexpensive, with total costs possibly controlled at around 210 yuan (e.g., seat 150 yuan + adapter plate and drilling 40 yuan + screws and nuts 20 yuan + idle swivel chair base 0 yuan). The seat itself comes with practical features like USB charging ports, offering unparalleled comfort and adjustability compared to ordinary office chairs. However, the overall sitting height may be higher after conversion, affecting posture.
Toyota Crown Car Seat Office Chair
Toyota has introduced an office chair that replicates the Crown car seat, based on the electric front seats of the Crown model. It retains most of the functional configurations of the original car seat, supporting electric recline, height adjustment, cushion forward tilt angle adjustment, and lumbar support functions, and is also equipped with seat ventilation and heating. The original car's seatbelt buckle is retained and converted into a USB port for device charging. The chair base, lifting mechanism, and armrest structure are developed in collaboration with Toyota Boshoku and the Japanese office furniture brand Ito Ki, preserving the comfortable feel of the original Crown car seat while incorporating the practical functions of professional office furniture. This office chair is sold through Toyota's premium Crown exclusive store channel, THE CROWN, in Japan, and belongs to the 'Crown Premium Selection Series'. It is priced at 495,000 yen (approximately 21,244 yuan at the current exchange rate) and is limited to 70 units. If demand exceeds supply, purchase eligibility will be determined through a lottery.
