Cable-Control Office Chair Assembly

Admin October 09, 2026

The assembly of a cable-control office chair can be carried out by referring to the following steps, combined with the assembly process of a regular office chair:

  1. Inventory of Components and Preparation of Tools
Before assembly, open the box in a well-lit and flat area, and categorize all components. The main components include a five-star base (pedestal), casters (5 pieces), a gas lift (pressure lift rod), a seat pan (control base for lifting and lowering), a seat (cushion), a backrest, armrests, a headrest, and a screw package. In terms of tools, the manufacturer usually provides an Allen wrench, but you can also prepare screwdrivers (Phillips/flat-head), an electric screwdriver (low-torque setting), a rubber mallet (for installing the gas lift), and a tape measure (for auxiliary adjustments).

  2. Install the Five-Star Base and Casters
Place the five-star base with its front side up. Take one caster, align its metal rod with the hole on the base's foot, and press it vertically until you hear a 'click', indicating it is securely fastened. If it is a threaded type, tighten it clockwise. Install the remaining casters in the same manner. After installation, lift the base slightly and shake it gently to check if all casters are firmly attached.

  3. Install the Gas Lift
Position the center hole of the five-star base upwards. Remove the plastic protective cap from the top of the gas lift (if present), and insert the thicker end of the gas lift vertically into the center hole. Press it firmly until it is fully inserted at the bottom, ensuring there is no looseness.

  4. Install the Seat Pan (Control Base)
Flip the seat cushion upside down to expose its bottom. Locate the pre-installed screw holes (usually 4), and remove the pre-installed screws. Align the seat pan with the holes, paying attention to distinguish the front and back directions (the side with the lift control lever is the front). First, manually screw in all screws loosely, then use the 'diagonal tightening method': tighten the two screws on the diagonal first, then tighten the other two, repeating this process two to three times to gradually tighten all screws simultaneously, ensuring the seat pan is evenly stressed and not skewed.

  5. Connect the Seat to the Gas Lift
Lift the seat with the installed seat pan, align the center hole of the seat pan with the top of the gas lift, and smoothly slide it down vertically to ensure a secure connection between the seat and the gas lift.

  6. Install the Backrest, Armrests, and Headrest
Connect the backrest to the seat, usually by screwing it in or snapping it into place, referring to the instruction manual for specific methods. Finally, install the armrests and headrest. Some models of armrests may support height or angle adjustments, which should be adjusted to the appropriate position according to the instruction manual.

Precautions: Cable-control office chairs may differ from regular office chairs in details such as backrest adjustment and armrest adjustment. If there is an instruction manual, it is recommended to refer to it for operation to ensure correct assembly.
