Byte Workplace Office Chair Replacement

Byte's workplaces plan to replace the originally used Humanscale World office chairs with domestically produced Qingxian Smart S1. The replacement will take place from August 2026 to the second quarter of the following year, involving workplaces in Beijing, Shanghai, and other cities. The reasons for the replacement are that the original chairs' backrests cannot be locked in the reclined position, causing discomfort during long sitting periods, and the Qingxian S1 was selected through employee trials and voting.

Replacement Background and Reasons

The originally used Humanscale World office chairs have a retail price of approximately 8,000 yuan, but they have an issue where the backrest cannot be locked in the reclined position, resulting in poor comfort for employees during long sitting periods. To improve the office experience for employees, ByteDance decided to replace the office chairs. Before the replacement, ByteDance organized seating experience activities in workplaces across the country, allowing employees to try out different brands and models of office chairs. Ultimately, through employee trials and voting, the domestically produced Qingxian Smart S1 was selected.

New Office Chair Details

The publicly listed price of the Qingxian Smart S1 is 2,549 yuan, and the price of the version purchased by Byte is around 2,500 yuan. Qingxian Smart was founded in 2023. Although it has not been established for a long time, it has developed rapidly in the office chair field. In June 2025, Qingxian Smart released its first dynamic ergonomic chair, the LiberNovo Omni, which introduces the engineering concepts of smart hardware into office chairs. Through bionic structures, precision linkages, and three-electric technologies, it achieves functions such as waist-back adaptation, spinal stretching, and active ventilation, demonstrating its innovative capabilities and technical strength in office chair R&D.

Replacement Plan and Scope

The office chair replacement plan in Byte's workplaces will start in August 2026 and continue until the second quarter of the following year. The replacement will be carried out in batches in workplaces in Beijing, Shanghai, and other cities. This phased replacement approach ensures that the replacement work is carried out in an orderly manner and minimizes the impact on the normal office order of the workplaces.

Qingxian Smart's Offline Layout

Qingxian Smart's offline layout accelerated significantly in 2026, with the simultaneous opening of "six stores in six cities." Its offline strategy is unique, with stores located in less prominent areas with relatively low foot traffic. However, the users who visit these stores have strong purposes, and the conversion efficiency may be higher. The label of "used by major companies" has become the most direct promotional advertisement for the stores, helping to enhance brand awareness and product sales.
