There are differences in the brands and models of office chairs selected by ByteDance and Tencent. ByteDance once chose the Humanscale World model and later planned to switch to the Qingxian Intelligent S1; Tencent had previously equipped its offices with chairs from the Daboli brand.
ByteDance's Office Chair Selection
Early on, ByteDance selected the World model of office chairs from the American brand Humanscale, which has a retail price of approximately 8,200 yuan. However, during use, employees reported discomfort issues such as the backrest being "unable to lock," which may affect their work experience and physical health. To address this situation, ByteDance plans to gradually replace its office chairs with the domestically produced Qingxian Intelligent S1 from August 2024 to the second quarter of 2027. The publicly listed price of the Qingxian Intelligent S1 is 2,549 yuan, making it more affordable compared to the previous Humanscale World model. This replacement not only reflects ByteDance's emphasis on the work environment for its employees but also indicates the growing recognition of the quality and cost-effectiveness of domestically produced office chairs.
Tencent's Office Chair Selection
In selecting office chairs, Tencent had previously equipped its offices with chairs from the Daboli brand, priced at around two to three thousand yuan. As a well-known domestic office furniture brand, Daboli's products are designed with ergonomic principles in mind, providing relatively comfortable support to meet daily office needs. Tencent's choice of Daboli office chairs may have been based on a comprehensive consideration of factors such as product quality, price, and compatibility with the office environment. The price range of two to three thousand yuan falls into the mid-level category in the office chair market, ensuring a certain level of quality and functionality without imposing excessive cost pressures on the company.
