Buying Office Chair Packaging

Admin October 16, 2026

The packaging of office chairs mainly involves packaging dimensions, materials and methods, tips for avoiding pitfalls when selecting products, and storage and transportation techniques, as detailed below:

Packaging Dimensions: There is no unified national standard for the packaging dimensions of office chairs. For mainstream e-commerce models, the length, width, and height of the packaging boxes mostly fall within the range of 80 - 120cm ร— 60 - 80cm ร— 20 - 40cm. The conventional dimensions of the packaging box for basic swivel chairs are approximately 110cm ร— 70cm ร— 30cm. Gaming chairs, which come with accessories such as headrests and lumbar supports, have packaging that is 10 - 15cm thicker. High-end executive chairs commonly come in a 120cm ร— 80cm ร— 40cm size.

Packaging Materials and Methods:

  • Traditional Packaging: Chairs purchased online are mostly designed to be disassembled and assembled. They are cushioned with foam and bubble wrap, requiring the cooperation of two or more traditional materials for protection.
  • New Packaging: For example, Ranpak kraft paper packaging. The machine makes kraft paper into paper pads, which are used to fill the bottom, sides, and gaps of the carton. After the chair is fixed, the carton is folded and sealed. Only one type of packaging material is needed, which is efficient, environmentally friendly, and biodegradable.
  • Simple Packing: Disassemble the chair components (such as removing the backrest panel, wheels, or folding joints). Wrap the four corners with foam bumpers and wrap with bubble wrap to prevent collisions. Spirally wrap stretch wrap upwards to shape it. Select a five-layer corrugated carton, place the chair upside down inside, and fill the gaps with old newspapers.

Tips for Avoiding Pitfalls When Selecting Products:

  • Before purchasing, check the 'packaging volume' or 'logistics dimensions' indicated on the product page. Prioritize shock-resistant packaging that combines honeycomb cardboard and pearl cotton, which can reduce the volume and is less likely to damage the electroplated parts of the chair legs.
  • Be cautious of products with low prices but labeled as 'shipped without packaging'. The damage rate during transportation for such products usually exceeds 15%, so choose carefully.

Storage and Transportation Techniques:

  • For storage, it is recommended to reserve a space of 120cm ร— 80cm ร— 50cm. For chairs with wheels, place a moisture-proof board 15cm above the ground at the bottom.
  • For bulk transportation, use the quincunx stacking method, with 4 boxes staggered on each layer and a waterproof cloth placed on top.
  • Logistics charges are based on the higher of the volumetric weight and the actual weight. It is advisable to measure in advance to avoid exceeding the estimated freight cost.
  • New-type air column + shrink wrap packaging can reduce the transportation volume by 20%. Some brands support the recycling of the original packaging to offset the freight cost (the old packaging is discounted by 10 - 30 yuan).
