Deformation of Bow-shaped Office Chair
Deformation of a bow-shaped office chair can be restored through targeted treatment, and attention should be paid to structural quality during daily purchasing to prevent deformation. The load-bearing structure of a bow-shaped office chair relies on an integrated steel frame to disperse pressure. The material is mostly iron with chrome plating, which has relatively high hardness and elasticity. If deformation occurs, it can be handled according to the following steps, and risks can be reduced from the purchasing stage.

I. Repair Methods After Deformation
If the steel frame or seat surface of the bow-shaped chair shows bending deformation, the physical correction method can be tried:
- Softening treatment: Soak the bent part at the bottom of the chair in water for 2 days. Use the permeability of water to temporarily soften the metal material and reduce the difficulty of correction. Note that the soaking time should not be too long to avoid excessive oxidation or corrosion of the metal.
- Manual correction: After the material is softened, use a tool (such as pipe wrenches) or your hands to slowly bend the bent part back to its original shape. Control the force during correction to avoid secondary breakage. After correction, let it dry naturally.
Principle: Iron with chrome plating has relatively high hardness at room temperature, but soaking can reduce its yield strength, making plastic deformation possible. This method is suitable for mild bending. If the deformation is severe (such as a broken steel frame or a collapsed seat surface), professional repair or part replacement is required.
II. Key Points for Purchasing to Prevent Deformation
- Steel frame wall thickness: Give priority to choosing a steel frame with a wall thickness of more than 1.5mm. Insufficient thickness is prone to causing elastic failure and deformation due to long-term load-bearing. The parameters can be confirmed by observing the cross-section at the connection between the chair legs and the crossbeam or by consulting the merchant.
- Connection firmness: Check whether the welding or riveting parts of the steel frame components are flat and free of false welding. The connection points are stress concentration points. If the workmanship is rough, they are prone to loosening or cracking after long-term use.
- Material and workmanship: Choose products from regular manufacturers to ensure the use of iron with chrome plating material instead of inferior alloys. The chrome plating layer can enhance corrosion resistance and extend the service life of the steel frame. At the same time, the integrated molding process is more stable than the spliced structure and can disperse pressure more evenly.
III. Usage Precautions
Avoid long-term overweight use (it is recommended that the load-bearing capacity does not exceed 120kg), and reduce abnormal actions such as jumping or applying lateral force on the seat surface, which can further reduce the risk of deformation. If the chair is in a humid environment for a long time, it needs to be wiped regularly to keep it dry and prevent metal rusting from weakening the structure.
