Modification of Bow-shaped Chair and Office Chair
Admin October 09, 2026
The modification of bow-shaped chairs and office chairs can be carried out according to different needs and chair types, using the following two main approaches:

I. Modification of the Base of Ordinary Bow-shaped Chairs The base of an ordinary bow-shaped chair is usually made of metal or plastic, with a stable structure and a certain load-bearing capacity, which can be reused through functional conversion.
- Modification into a Plant Stand: Flip the base of the bow-shaped chair 180 degrees so that the curved part that originally touched the ground faces upwards, forming a stable support structure. Circular or square flower pots can be placed on the support to grow small green plants or succulents. If the curvature of the base is large, it can be reinforced by binding wooden strips or metal strips to prevent the flower pots from tipping over.
- Modification into a Storage Cabinet: Install wooden or plastic partitions inside the base to divide it into multiple storage compartments. The partitions can be fixed to the metal frame of the base with screws or glued with strong adhesive (ensuring material compatibility). The modified storage cabinet can be used to store stationery, tools, small parts, and other items, suitable for placement in a study or workshop.
II. Modification of Parts of Ergonomic Bow-shaped Chairs Taking the ErgoHuman Plus U Eagle Headrest as an example, the modification of ergonomic chairs needs to take into account both functional optimization and structural stability, usually involving adjustments to specific components.
- Modification for a Flat Headrest: If there is an angular deviation between the original headrest and the backrest, resulting in insufficient cervical spine support, it can be corrected by gradually disassembling the components. The specific steps include:
- Use tools to remove the fixing screws at the connection between the headrest and the backrest, separating the headrest rod from the backrest frame;
- Cut off specific parts of the headrest rod (such as excess protrusions or curved sections) according to needs, ensuring a flat cutting surface;
- Reinstall the processed headrest rod and fix it with screws so that the surface of the headrest is on the same plane as the backrest, enhancing the continuity of cervical spine support. Note: Before modification, measure the cutting dimensions to avoid excessive reduction affecting the strength of the headrest; after modification, test the overall stability to ensure that the chair's load-bearing capacity is not affected.
Modification Precautions:
- When modifying an ordinary bow-shaped chair, check whether the base material is suitable for secondary processing (e.g., avoid high-temperature cutting for plastic bases);
- The modification of ergonomic chairs involves structural adjustments, so it is recommended to be carried out by professionals or refer to the official modification guide;
- All modifications must ensure the safety of the final product to avoid accidental injuries caused by sharp edges or loose components.
