Bow Office Chair Repair

Admin October 10, 2026

The repair of a bow office chair requires targeted measures based on specific issues. Common problems and repair methods are as follows:

Seat Cushion Shining

  • Diagnosis and Material Adaptation: First, confirm the chair material (leather/faux leather, mesh, velvet/fabric, wood/metal, etc.), analyze the cause of the shine (such as 'patina', oily layer, or physical wear), and check for scratches, cracks, or sagging. For example, leather shine may be due to oil penetration, while mesh shine is often caused by dirt accumulation.
  • Cleaning Methods:
    • Leather/Faux Leather: For daily cleaning, use a slightly damp soft cloth to gently wipe. For deep oil removal, use a specialized leather cleaner, dilute it, and gently rub the shiny area in a circular motion. Then, use a damp cloth to wipe away any residue and dry it. Avoid using soapy water, alkaline water, or cleaners containing alcohol or strong acids/bases to prevent material hardening or discoloration.
    • Mesh: For local stains, dilute a neutral cleaner (such as dish soap) and dip a soft cloth in it to wipe. For stubborn oil stains, vacuum thoroughly first, then spray the diluted cleaner on the surface, let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe clean. After deep cleaning, ensure thorough drying to prevent mildew.

Structural Issues

  • Reinforce the Frame: Check the chair frame and support structure, tighten loose screws with a screwdriver or wrench; for key areas such as the connection points between the seat and backrest, use wood glue or steel nails for reinforcement; if the seat cushion is damaged, replace it directly with a new one.
  • Increase Stability: Add a wooden board or metal bracket to the bottom of the chair to distribute pressure; regularly clean dust and stains, and keep it dry to prevent wood deformation or metal rusting due to moisture.

Damaged Parts

  • Self-Replacement Process:
    1. Place the chair on a level surface, remove the base, and lay it on its side.
    2. Use pliers to hold the gas cylinder tube, open it, and repeatedly loosen the cylinder until it falls off.
    3. Replace with new parts and reassemble, using a wrench or screwdriver to secure small components such as nuts.
    4. Adjust the seat height and test if the gas cylinder is working properly. Wear gloves during operation to prevent scratches.

Tilted to One Side

  • Wheel Inspection and Replacement:
    1. Invert the chair and check if the wheel feet are damaged or uneven. If the wheels are damaged, contact the manufacturer for the model number to order new ones, or take the old wheels to an office supplies store to match a replacement set (confirm the shape and size of the wheel axle).
    2. Remove old wheels: Pull by hand or pry with a flat-head screwdriver; if the wheels are fixed with screws, use a screwdriver to loosen the screws and remove them.
    3. Install new wheels: Apply spray lubricant (such as WD-40) or petroleum jelly to the base socket, gently tap the casters with a rubber mallet until fully embedded, ensuring the wheel rod is aligned with the base.
    4. Test: Invert the chair to check if it is still tilted. If the problem is not resolved, further inspect if the seat plate is deformed.
