Boss Chair, Office Chair for Business

Admin October 09, 2026

The boss chair is a type of computer chair, typically designed for the office use of business managers, and some are also configured in home studies. It combines comfort with the symbolic function of a professional image.

I. Basic Structure and Functions
The boss chair consists of eight basic components, including casters, a five-star base, a gas lift, and a chassis. Among them, the gas lift is the core component, enabling height adjustment of the seat through pneumatic regulation. It is essential to choose products that have passed safety certifications (such as SGS and BIFMA) to avoid the risk of explosion from inferior gas cylinders. Some high-end models (such as the Livorno S02) integrate electric adjustment functions: the headrest supports angle adjustment from 0 to 60 degrees, the backrest can recline from 95 to 160 degrees, and when the leg rest is lifted with one button, the seat cushion moves forward synchronously. The 8-centimeter electric adjustment in the front and back meets the needs of different sitting postures. Additionally, the massage function covers the back with two sets of five airbags, adjustable in three intensity levels; the lumbar heating module is precisely positioned to enhance comfort during prolonged sitting.

II. Materials and Classifications
Boss chairs are commonly made of two types of materials: leather and mesh:

  • Leather models: Mostly use PU leather or genuine leather, offering a soft touch and an elegant appearance. They are commonly found in high-back executive chairs and medium-sized manager chairs, suitable for formal office settings.
  • Mesh models: Prioritize breathability, making them ideal for summer use without feeling stuffy. They are commonly seen in low-back staff chairs, suitable for users seeking lightweight designs.

III. Ergonomics and Health
Some brands (such as Xiamumu, Herman Miller, and Sihoo) focus on ergonomic design, supporting the natural curve of the spine through lumbar and neck pillows to distribute body pressure. However, it is important to note:

  • Formaldehyde risk: Inferior leather or glue may release excessive formaldehyde. When purchasing, check for environmental certifications (such as the China Environmental Labeling Certification).
  • Flame retardancy: Boss chairs used in public places must comply with national flame retardancy standards (such as GB/T 19501-2013) to reduce fire hazards.

IV. Safety Tips for Use

  1. Avoid frequent spinning or sudden sitting to prevent excessive wear on the gas lift;
  2. Regularly check the stability of components such as casters and the five-star base;
  3. Mesh models should be protected from sharp objects, while leather models require regular cleaning and maintenance to extend their lifespan.
