Boss Chair Business Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

The boss chair is a computer chair specifically designed for business managers, falling within the broad category of office chairs. It combines comfort with the symbolic function of representing a professional image in the workplace and is commonly found in manager offices, senior executive offices, and home studies.

Structure and Materials

The boss chair consists of eight basic components: wheels, a five-star base, a gas lift, a chassis, a seat, armrests, a backrest, and a headrest. The gas lift is the core component, supporting height adjustment of up to 80mm and requiring 3C certification for safety. The seat is composed of a wooden board, foam, and upholstery (such as leather, linen, or mesh). Leather versions often use PU leather or genuine leather, while mesh versions offer better breathability. The backrest may feature a steel frame or plastic frame combined with mesh, with some high-end models equipped with electrically adjustable headrests (0-60ยฐ) and backrests (95ยฐ-160ยฐ). The armrests support 3D height and rotation adjustments, the chair wheels are PA material universal wheels, and the chair legs are mostly made of nylon.

Function and Design

Early boss chairs were primarily leather-based, emphasizing lumbar and head support. Over time, ergonomic designs such as adjustable lumbar supports and curved backrests have been incorporated. Smart features are a recent trend, with some products integrating four motors for independent electric adjustment of the headrest, backrest, leg rest, and seat cushion. They also come equipped with massage (2 sets of 5 airbags, 3 adjustable levels), heating (for the lumbar area), zero-gravity, and ventilation functions, even borrowing technology from business vehicle aviation seats.

Usage and Maintenance

To adjust the height, sit on the chair, lift the adjustment handle, and slightly raise your body until your feet are flat on the ground and your thighs are parallel to the floor, then lock it in place. Maintenance requires handling different materials appropriately: for leather versions, wipe with a soft cloth and use a 1%-3% neutral detergent for stubborn stains; for fabric versions, pat or vacuum dry dirt, and for liquid stains, absorb the liquid first and then wipe with a neutral detergent; regularly clean metal fittings with an oiled cloth and promptly repair rust spots; clean the wheels of hair and fiber debris. Avoid direct sunlight, overloading (recommended weight limit โ‰ค120kg), and never sit on the armrests or place heavy objects on them.

Safety Risks

Be vigilant against gas lift explosions (often due to substandard quality or aging), formaldehyde exceeding standards (from inferior glue or upholstery), and non-compliant flame retardancy (fire hazards). In 2025, a Chinese-made office chair was recalled overseas due to a bolt defect connecting the backrest to the base, highlighting the importance of regularly inspecting screws, springs, and other components.
