Using Boards to Make Office Chairs

Admin October 22, 2026

Boards can be used to make office chairs, and there are multiple specific implementation methods.

I. Making an Internet-famous Tortoise-stool-style Office Chair Some people have used leftover boards and a cost of just a few dozen yuan to make an Internet-famous tortoise stool as an office chair. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Material Preparation: Purchase a seat (such as a blow-molded bleacher seat), a storage box (for drawer functionality), and casters in advance. Also, prepare tools and accessories such as a circular saw, woodworking clamps, a sandpaper holder, screws, and stainless steel corner brackets.
  2. Cutting the Boards: Use a circular saw and woodworking clamps to cut the boards, making a total of 5 pieces. The base and top boards are 45X39cm in size, the side boards are 39cm long and 17cm high, and the backrest board is 41.4X170mm in size.
  3. Sanding Treatment: Use a sandpaper holder to simply sand the cut edges and surfaces of the boards to make them smooth and prevent skin scratches during use.
  4. Assembling the Frame: Connect the base and side boards with screws, using 3 4*50 self-tapping screws on each side. Install 20X20 stainless steel corner brackets on the inside of each side to keep the side boards vertical. Then, use the same method to assemble the base and backrest boards.
  5. Installing the Seat and Casters: Place the blow-molded bleacher seat on the assembled wooden box and drill holes to secure it. Use self-tapping screws to fix the casters at the four corners of the base for easy chair movement.
  6. Adding a Drawer: Use a storage box in the style of a turnover box as a drawer and simply place it inside to add storage functionality to the chair.

II. Making Other Types of Chairs In addition to the above-mentioned Internet-famous tortoise-stool-style office chair, you can also use wooden boards to make sturdy and durable ordinary chairs, folding chairs, and armchairs. During the making process, you can adjust the style and functionality of the chairs according to the needs of the office environment. For example, if the chair needs to be moved frequently, you can add casters; if additional storage functionality is required, you can design drawers or shelves. At the same time, pay attention to material selection and processing techniques during the making process to ensure the structural stability and safety of the chairs.
