Disassembly of Blue Office Chair

Admin October 10, 2026

The disassembly of a blue office chair should be carried out step by step, and specific operations should be adjusted according to the actual structure. The general methods are as follows:

1. Seat Disassembly

  • Turn the chair upside down with the seat facing down and observe the connection method between the base and the seat. If it is fixed with screws, use a wrench or screwdriver to remove the screws on the base and separate the base from the seat.
  • If the seat cushion and the backrest are designed as one piece, the backrest needs to be removed first. Usually, the backrest is fixed to the seat with screws or snaps, and corresponding tools (such as a screwdriver or an Allen wrench) are required for the operation.
  • Note: Record the positions of the screws before disassembly to avoid difficulties in subsequent assembly.

2. Armrest Disassembly

  • The armrests are usually fixed to the armrest frame or the side of the seat with screws. Use a screwdriver or an Allen wrench to unscrew the screws and remove the armrests.
  • If the armrests are connected to the seat with snaps, press the snaps or use a plastic pry bar to assist in separation to avoid scratching the surface.

3. Leg Disassembly

  • Threaded Connection: When the legs are fixed to the base with nuts, use a wrench to turn the nuts counterclockwise and separate the legs.
  • Snap Connection: If the legs are designed with snaps, lift the legs upwards and press the snaps at the same time. You will hear a 'click' sound, and then the legs can be removed.
  • Special Cases: Some legs are directly connected to the gas lift. First, separate the base from the gas lift (see Step 4), and then disassemble the legs.

4. Separation of the Base and the Gas Lift

  • Turn the chair upside down and tap evenly around the edge of the base's steel ring with a rubber mallet to loosen the base from the gas lift.
  • If the base is stubborn, first use a screwdriver to remove the upper seat (if any), then tap the metal chassis and step on the hydraulic piston to assist in separation.
  • Key Point: Control the force when tapping to avoid damaging the gas lift or the base.

5. Handling of Other Components

  • Caster Disassembly: If you need to disassemble a base with casters, use an Allen wrench to loosen the connection between the base and the gas lift, and then remove the casters one by one.
  • Rusty Screw Treatment: If you encounter rusty screws, drip lubricating oil (such as WD-40) and let it sit for 10 minutes. After the rust softens, proceed with the operation.
  • Special Designs: If the chair has functions such as electric height adjustment or cable management slots, refer to the specific structure to adjust the steps and avoid damaging electronic components or wires.

Precautions:

  • Observe the structure of the chair before disassembly to avoid breaking or deforming parts due to violent operations.
  • Classify and store small parts (such as screws and snaps) according to steps. It is recommended to use sealed bags to mark their positions for easy subsequent assembly.
  • When using tools such as rubber mallets and spirit levels, pad them with soft cloth to prevent scratching the surface of the chair.
  • If the chair is made of special materials (such as leather or carbon fiber), use special tools or consult the manufacturer for guidance.
