Black Office Chair Repair
Admin October 16, 2026
The repair of a black office chair should be carried out according to the specific type of fault. The following are common faults and repair methods:

Failure of the pneumatic rod's lifting and lowering function
- If the lifting is jerky, disassemble the pneumatic rod and apply specialized lubricants such as silicone-based grease to the internal moving parts to reduce friction.
- If the pneumatic rod cannot lift or lower at all or leaks air, replace it with a SGS-certified explosion-proof pneumatic rod. Ensure that the diameter and length of the new pneumatic rod match the original parts to avoid installation instability or further damage due to mismatched models.
Stuck or noisy casters
- Disassemble the casters, clean out internal debris (such as hair and dust), and apply lubricant to the bearings to restore smooth rotation.
- If the bearings are damaged, replace them with silent casters (noise level โค 30db). During installation, ensure that the new casters fit the holes on the five-star base properly, with a hole diameter deviation of no more than 0.1mm, to avoid noise or detachment due to loose installation.
Failure of the backrest adjustment
- If the adjustment handle is loose, use tools to tighten the screws to ensure a firm connection between the handle and the internal structure.
- If the internal spring is broken, replace it with a spring of the same specification (spring force โฅ 50n) to avoid issues such as the backrest being unable to stay in place or abnormal rebound due to insufficient spring force.
- If there is noise at the connection, disassemble the connecting parts between the backrest and the seat, clean the worn areas, and apply rubber anti-slip paste to reduce noise caused by metal friction.
Sagging of the seat
- If the foam is aged (rebound rate < 60%), replace it with high-rebound foam with a thickness of โฅ 5cm and a density of โฅ 35kg/mยณ to improve seat comfort and support.
- If the metal base is deformed, use a hammer or other tools to gently tap it back into place. If the deformation is severe, replace it with a cold-rolled steel plate base (thickness โฅ 1.5mm) to ensure structural strength and safety.
Hydraulic system failure (e.g., the backrest cannot stay upright)
- Check whether the screws at the fulcrum of the hydraulic rod are damaged. If they are non-standard screws, replace them with standard No. 10 screws (length 30mm) and add washers during installation to prevent the screws from interfering with the movement range of the hydraulic rod.
Precautions: If the fault involves structural safety (such as a leaking pneumatic rod) or the repair is difficult, it is advisable to contact professional repair personnel to avoid secondary damage or safety hazards caused by improper operation.
