Basic Components of Office Chairs
The basic components of an office chair typically include casters, chair legs, gas lift (pneumatic rod), base, seat, armrests, backrest, lumbar pillow, and headrest.

Casters are the mobile parts of an office chair, usually installed at the bottom of the chair legs to facilitate flexible movement on the floor. Common caster materials include rubber and nylon, with differences in wear resistance and quietness among different materials.
Chair legs are the frame structure that supports the entire chair. Common shapes include five-star legs and four-claw legs. Five-star legs are more common, providing more stable support. They come in a variety of materials such as metal and plastic. Metal chair legs are generally more sturdy and durable, while plastic chair legs are relatively lighter.
The gas lift (pneumatic rod) is a key component for height adjustment of an office chair. Through changes in air pressure, users can easily adjust the chair to a suitable height to meet the needs of different heights and usage scenarios.
The base connects the gas lift and the seat, providing stability and support. It can also control functions such as the tilt angle of the chair.
The seat is the part that directly bears the weight of the human body. It is generally composed of a wooden board, sponge, and fabric. The wooden board provides the basic support structure, the sponge increases comfort, and there are various fabric options such as leather, mesh, and velvet, each with its own characteristics in terms of breathability, touch, and aesthetics.
Armrests can provide support for the user's arms, reducing pressure on the shoulders and neck. They come in a variety of materials and shapes, with common options including plastic and metal paired with soft cushions.
The backrest is an important component that supports the human back, helping to maintain the correct sitting posture and reduce back fatigue. Some backrests adopt a design combining a steel frame or plastic frame with mesh fabric, ensuring both strength and good breathability.
The lumbar pillow and headrest are designed to further enhance comfort. The lumbar pillow can conform to the curve of the human waist, providing additional support; the headrest can support the head when the user leans back, relieving neck pressure.
