Base-Fixed Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

The installation of a base-fixed office chair typically follows the steps below, with specific operations depending on the type of accessories and tools used:

1. Basic Accessory Installation
First, assemble the chair wheels with the five-star base. Insert each wheel into the mounting holes of the five-star base, ensuring that each wheel is fully embedded and secure. For factory assembly, place the base upside down on a fixture, insert the casters into the legs, and then apply pressure using a pneumatic press to secure them. This step ensures a firm connection between the casters and the base, preventing them from coming loose during later use.

2. Connecting the Gas Lift to the Base
The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the height of the office chair. When installing, align the thicker end of the gas lift with the central hole of the five-star base, place it vertically, and gently press down to ensure full contact between the gas lift and the base. Some designs may require rotation or light tapping for additional securing, so follow the specific product instructions. Note: Choose a gas lift model that meets safety standards to avoid seat collapse due to insufficient pressure or material defects.

3. Accessory Types and Material Selection
Office chair bases come in various accessory types, commonly including five-star feet (five-claw bases) and swivel chair accessories. In terms of materials, electroplated iron bases are cost-effective but have weaker corrosion resistance; steel bases offer higher strength and are suitable for long-term use, with prices typically ranging from tens to hundreds of yuan. Selection should consider the usage scenario (e.g., home or office) and budget. For high-frequency use scenarios, steel accessories are recommended.

4. Installation Precautions

  • Tool Preparation: For home installation, prepare basic tools such as a rubber mallet (to assist in securing the gas lift) and a wrench (to adjust screws); factory batch assembly requires professional equipment like pneumatic presses.
  • Safety Inspection: After installation, check that all connections are secure, especially the chair wheels and gas lift. Test stability by gently shaking.
  • Weight Limit: Based on the base material and gas lift specifications, confirm the maximum weight capacity (usually indicated in the product manual) to avoid structural damage from overloading.

5. Common Issue Resolution
If the chair wheels do not rotate smoothly after installation, it may be due to dust or burrs. Wipe the wheel axles with a dry cloth or apply a small amount of lubricant. If the gas lift cannot adjust the height, check if it is properly installed or if the internal pressure is insufficient (contact after-sales service for replacement).
