Bad Office Chairs
Admin October 10, 2026
Bad office chairs pose multiple issues, including safety risks, quality problems, and poor user experience.

Safety Risks
- Explosion Risk: Poor-quality gas springs are the main cause of explosions in office swivel chairs. Some products have gas springs with overly thin tube walls, impure inert gases, or even use compressed air instead of inert gases. Under extreme conditions, such as high temperatures or frequent height adjustments, explosions may occur. Additionally, office chairs without explosion-proof steel plates also pose safety hazards. The role of explosion-proof steel plates is to prevent the gas spring from puncturing the seat and causing injury to the user in the event of an explosion.
- Fire Risk: Some office chairs may have a risk of short-circuit fires due to unqualified electrical components or aging wiring, especially during prolonged use or in high-temperature environments.
- Excessive Formaldehyde: Office chairs with unqualified formaldehyde emissions pose a threat to the health of users. Prolonged exposure to formaldehyde may cause respiratory diseases, allergic reactions, and even increase the risk of cancer.
Quality Problems
- Poor Component Quality: If the five-star base of a swivel chair is of poor quality, it is prone to breakage during use, which may cause the user to fall and sustain injuries. Unqualified wear resistance of the casters can also affect the lifespan of the office chair, leading to poor mobility or jamming.
- Poor Stability: Some office chairs have poor stability, and the chair is prone to tipping over when the user leans forward, backward, or sits sideways, which may cause injuries to the user.
Poor User Experience
- Unreasonable Design: Some consumers report that the office chairs they purchased are too tall, and even when adjusted to the lowest position, they still need to look down at the computer, causing back pain after sitting for just an hour. Additionally, the stitching of the leather on the seat and backrest shows significant differences in appearance, affecting the overall aesthetics.
- Functional Defects: Some office chairs claim to have massage functions, but in actual use, they are noisy and do not provide a relaxing massage effect, instead becoming a source of interference.
- Rough Workmanship: Some office chairs have rough workmanship and color issues, such as noticeable color differences and uneven surfaces, affecting the user experience and visual appeal.
