Backrest Office Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

Backrest office chairs come in various types, each with distinct features, but they also have some quality issues.

In terms of types and features, different brands and models of backrest office chairs have unique designs. For example, the Herman Miller (HERMAN MILLER) Sayl Classic Black Ergonomic Chair is relatively small in size, accommodating individuals as short as 1.55 meters. Its backrest supports forward tilting and features an integrated single-back design, providing good lumbar and back support. Made of soft plastic, it offers comfortable support for users. The ENOVA Alloy Master Ergonomic Chair, in its standard version, has an aluminum alloy frame, which is more robust and stable. It uses an Italian DONATI base, ensuring even force distribution when reclining and supporting adjustable recline resistance. It also comes with an optional space capsule footrest, meeting users' diverse needs for both regular office work and relaxation. Additionally, there are ergonomic office chairs with designs such as full-posture synchronized gliding linkage, intelligent lumbar tracking systems, and single-rod three-stage linkage structures. These chairs have dual-axis headrests adjustable up, down, forward, and backward, supporting dual-axis rotation, suitable for individuals ranging from 150 to 190 cm in height. They also come with three-speed air-suction cockpits. These advanced designs better conform to the body's curves, providing comprehensive and comfortable support and enhancing office comfort and efficiency.

However, backrest office chairs also have some quality issues. On March 2, 2023, the United States and Canada recalled office chairs made in China due to the risk of backrest breakage, which posed a falling hazard and seriously threatened user safety. On September 30, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation's national supervision and inspection of office chairs found that 15 batches of products were non-compliant, with stability issues being prominent. Unstable office chairs are prone to tipping over during use, posing safety risks to users. On January 16, 2025, the United States recalled office chairs made in China, specifically the WorkPro Momentum model, due to the risk of bolt failure, which could lead to falling hazards. Bolt failure may result in structural instability of the office chair, affecting normal use and potentially causing harm.
