Avoid Office Chair Explosion
Admin October 11, 2026
Preventing office chair explosions requires comprehensive measures in purchasing, usage, maintenance, and alternative solutions. Specific measures are as follows:

1. Prioritize purchasing formal products and strictly control quality
- Identify certification marks: Choose gas springs that have passed international or national standard tests, such as those bearing certification marks like SGS, BIFMA, TUV, or products that comply with standards like GB/T 26711-2011, QB/T2280-2016. Some brands (such as Xia Mu Xiao Qi) have passed 200 tests and are marked with 5G5 certification, further reducing risks.
- Avoid 'three-no' products: Poor-quality gas springs may be filled with low-purity gases or use inferior materials, which can easily cause explosions due to high temperatures or sudden pressure increases. When purchasing, ensure the product has a certificate of conformity, registered trademark, manufacturer's name, and address.
2. Standardize usage behavior to reduce risk triggers
- Control lifting frequency: Frequent adjustment of the seat height can cause friction and heat generation inside the cylinder, potentially leading to sudden pressure increases. It is recommended to reduce unnecessary lifting operations, especially after prolonged use, and the number of daily lifts should not exceed the specified limit.
- Maintain a stable height: The gas spring has the least pressure at its highest position, posing a lower risk; if you need to lower the height, briefly adjust it and then keep it stable, avoiding prolonged periods at intermediate heights.
- Maintain correct sitting posture: Distribute your body weight evenly to avoid uneven stress on the chair caused by leaning forward or sideways. When leaning forward, the pressure on the gas spring may exceed its design limit, increasing the risk of explosion.
- Stay away from high-temperature environments: Avoid exposing the chair to heating or direct sunlight for extended periods, as high temperatures can accelerate gas expansion inside the gas spring, posing safety hazards.
3. Regularly maintain and inspect to promptly eliminate hidden dangers
- Check stability: Regularly inspect the chair legs, gas spring, and seat connections for looseness or cracks. If you notice wobbling, difficult adjustment, or unusual noises, stop using it immediately and contact professional repair services.
- Prohibit self-disassembly: The gas spring is filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas, and disassembly by non-professionals may cause sudden gas release, leading to an explosion. If repair is needed, be sure to contact the manufacturer or authorized repair center.
4. Consider alternative solutions to completely avoid risks
- Choose chairs without gas springs: Traditional wooden chairs or fixed-height office chairs can completely avoid the risk of gas spring explosions.
- Opt for mechanical lifting chairs: Some chairs use a mechanical screw lifting mechanism, which, although less convenient to adjust than gas springs, have no gas explosion hazards and are suitable for users with high safety requirements.
