Assembly of Wooden Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

The steps and precautions for assembling a wooden office chair (taking a cypress wood chair as an example) are as follows:

Assembly Steps

  1. Prepare Tools and Accessories

    • You will need one Allen wrench, 16 wood screws, 4 angle irons, one Phillips screwdriver, and 8 self-tapping screws (extra accessories for backup).
    • Ensure that all accessories are complete and undamaged, and that the tools match the screw specifications (e.g., the Allen wrench should match the head type of the wood screws).
  2. Install Angle Irons and Crossbars

    • Align the right angles of the angle irons vertically with the crossbars and secure them with self-tapping screws. Cypress wood is relatively hard, so you need to forcefully drive in the screws to ensure a firm connection between the angle irons and the crossbars.
    • Check if the four angle irons are level, adjust them, and then tighten all the self-tapping screws to prevent tilting during subsequent installation.
  3. Secure the Backrest Support

    • Identify the position of the single hole on the back of the backrest (the flat part) and the support bracket. Align the support bracket with the hole and insert it, but do not tighten the screws yet to leave room for subsequent adjustments.
  4. Install Crossbars and Seat Panel

    • When installing the crossbars, place the angle irons on the inside, facing upwards, and connect them to the seat panel. Choose the hole position according to the user's height: tall people use the upper holes, and short people use the lower holes. Do not tighten the screws yet for easy adjustment.
    • Check if the holes on the crossbars are aligned, adjust the levelness of the angle irons, and ensure that the seat panel is installed smoothly.
  5. Install the Backrest and Seat Panel

    • Align the single hole on the backrest with the support bracket. After the overall shape is formed, place the chair on a level tile floor and gently tap it to adjust (avoid operating on a rough or earth floor to prevent uneven force distribution).
    • When installing the seat panel, check the position and levelness of the angle irons. The seat panel should be flush with the crossbars (the stool has a natural slope, so the back does not need to be aligned).
    • Turn the chair upside down and use a Phillips screwdriver to fully tighten all the screws to ensure a stable structure.
  6. Add Anti-slip Pads

    • Peel off the adhesive backing of the anti-slip pads and stick them to the bottom of the chair legs. They are not needed on rough or earth floors to prevent the adhesion of impurities from affecting the anti-slip effect.

Precautions

  • Material Characteristics: Cypress wood has high hardness, so you need to forcefully drive in the self-tapping screws during assembly. If the wood is too soft (e.g., pine wood), it is not suitable for making stools as it is prone to deformation under load.
  • Tighten Screws in Stages: Do not tighten the screws during the crossbar installation stage. Fully secure them only after the seat panel position has been adjusted to avoid structural misalignment.
  • Slight Unevenness is Normal: Due to material characteristics, wooden products may have slight unevenness, which does not affect safety and does not require excessive adjustment.
  • Environmental Requirements: When adjusting the levelness of the chair, choose a hard and flat floor (e.g., tile floor) and avoid operating on a soft floor to prevent errors.
