Assembly of Swivel Office Chairs

Admin October 16, 2026

The assembly of swivel office chairs can be carried out according to the following steps:

Preparation Before Assembly
Count all the components, including the five-star base, casters, gas lift, seat plate (tray), seat, backrest, armrests, headrest (if applicable), along with the matching screws and tools (a Phillips screwdriver and an Allen wrench). Ensure that all components are complete and undamaged to avoid interruptions during the assembly process due to missing parts.

Installing the Casters
Choose the installation method based on the type of caster:

  • Stem-type (snap-in type): Align the metal stem at the top of the caster with the hole in the five-star base and press down vertically until you hear a 'click' sound, confirming it is securely fastened.
  • Screw-type (e.g., M8 standard screw): Align the screw with the threaded hole in the five-star base and turn it clockwise until it is fully tightened.
After installation, check that all five casters are stable and ensure that the five-star base does not wobble when placed.

Inserting the Gas Lift
Flip the five-star base with the installed casters upright on the ground and remove the protective cap (if any) from the lower end of the gas lift. Insert the thicker end of the gas lift vertically into the center hole of the five-star base and push it in firmly to the bottom for initial fixation, ensuring that the gas lift is perpendicular to the five-star base without any tilt.

Securing the Seat Plate (Tray)
Place the underside of the seat facing upwards, take out the seat plate and align it with the mounting holes on the bottom of the seat, paying attention to the correct orientation of the seat plate (usually indicated by markings or notches for alignment). Use the provided screws and screwdriver to firmly tighten the seat plate to the seat, avoiding loose screws that could cause potential safety issues during subsequent use.

Connecting the Backrest and Armrests

  • Backrest Installation: Connect the backrest to the seat through the rear bracket or steel bar and use screws for initial fixation, leaving some room for fine-tuning. For example, the P509 model requires three 6x35 slender screws to install the back bar, with the concave side fitting against the backrest before fixation, and then inserting the back bar into the notch of the tray and tightening the black knob.
  • Armrest Installation: Align the armrests with the mounting positions on both sides of the seat and use screws to loosely secure them. After the backrest is fully installed, uniformly tighten all the connecting screws to ensure that the armrests are firmly connected to the backrest and the seat.

Overall Assembly
Hold the seat with the installed seat plate and armrests steadily with both hands, align it vertically with the thinner upper end of the gas lift, and press down firmly and evenly until the interface at the bottom of the seat is fully engaged with the gas lift. Check that there are no loose or gaping connections.

Installing the Headrest (if applicable)
Depending on the design, the headrest may be fixed to the top of the backrest with screws or snap-in fasteners. Refer to the instruction manual or observe the position of the slots to install the headrest properly and confirm that it is securely in place.

Precautions: The assembly steps may vary for different models of chairs. For example, the T37 hollow-caster computer chair requires aligning the arrow on the tray with the front side of the seat cushion, fitting the protrusion on the backrest into the hole on the seat cushion, and installing the rocking knob to enable forward and backward adjustment functions. Always follow the instructions in the manual during the assembly process to ensure safe operation.
