Assembly of Office Chair Cushion

Admin October 09, 2026

Taking the W701 new-style perforated cushion as an example, the steps for assembling an office chair cushion are as follows:

Step 1: Install the Five-Star Base and Gas Lift Insert the five casters vertically into the five holes of the five-star base one by one, ensuring that the casters are fully embedded and free of looseness. Then, align the gas lift (height adjustment rod) with the central hole of the five-star base and insert it. Gently press the top of the gas lift with your hand to ensure a tight connection with the five-star base. Pay attention to keeping the direction of the casters consistent to avoid obstruction of chair movement after installation.

Step 2: Secure the Tray and Cushion Place the tray (the component connecting the cushion and the gas lift) on the bottom of the cushion. Use four short screws (usually M6 or M8 specifications) to pass through the corresponding holes of the tray and the cushion. Tighten the screws in a diagonal sequence using a wrench to ensure a firm connection between the tray and the cushion, avoiding uneven stress that could cause looseness.

Step 3: Pre-install the Backrest and Armrests Align the armrests with the installation holes on both sides of the backrest (the holes on the backrest usually have a curved design, so adjust the angle to ensure full alignment of the screw holes). Use four short screws to initially secure the armrests to the backrest. The screws do not need to be fully tightened at this stage to allow for subsequent adjustment of the backrest angle or armrest position.

Step 4: Connect the Backrest and Cushion Align the backrest assembly (including the pre-installed armrests) with the installation holes at the rear of the cushion. Use four medium-length screws (longer than the short screws used in Step 2) to pass through the holes and secure them. Tighten all the screws, including those connecting the backrest and armrests that were not fully tightened in Step 3, in a diagonal sequence using a wrench to ensure the overall structure is stable and free of wobbling.

Step 5: Install the Gas Lift and Tray Lift the assembled cushion part (including the tray) and align the central hole of the tray with the top of the gas lift and insert it. Ensure that the gas lift is fully embedded in the hole of the tray. Keep the chair vertical during this step to avoid tilting the gas lift, which could cause abnormal height adjustment function.

Step 6: Secure the Headrest Align the bottom of the headrest with the installation holes at the top of the backrest. Use two short screws to pass through the holes and tighten them to complete the headrest fixation. After installation, check if the height of the headrest is adjustable (if the design supports it) and confirm that the screws are free of looseness.

Precautions:

  1. Before assembly, check the specifications and quantity of screws to avoid using the wrong ones and causing damage to the components;
  2. When tightening the screws, use a wrench to avoid loose connections caused by hand operation;
  3. If the gas lift does not adjust smoothly, check if the gas lift and the hole of the tray are aligned, or contact after-sales service for adjustment.
