Assembly Instructions for Office Chair

Admin October 16, 2026

The steps for assembling an office chair are as follows. Please follow the order and pay attention to safety regulations:

1. Install the Five-Star Base and Wheels
Align the wheels with the holes on the five-star base. Some wheels may need to be screwed in by rotating. Ensure that each wheel is fully inserted and secure. If the wheels and the five-star base are connected with a snap-fit mechanism, listen for a 'click' sound to confirm they are locked in place. This step is fundamental for the chair's mobility, so check the wheel flexibility carefully.

2. Install the Gas Lift
Remove the protective cap from the top of the gas lift and insert it vertically into the center hole of the five-star base. The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the chair's height. Keep it vertical during insertion to avoid damaging the seal due to tilting. Some gas lifts may need to be pressed gently to the bottom to ensure full contact with the five-star base.

3. Connect the Seat Base and Cushion
Align the seat base (with the control lever) with the reserved holes under the cushion and secure the screws with a screwdriver (Phillips or Allen). Ensure that the direction of the seat base matches the curvature of the cushion, usually with the control lever facing forward. Tighten the screws in stages: first, loosely secure all screws, then tighten them one by one to prevent the cushion from tilting.

4. Secure the Cushion to the Gas Lift
Align the gas lift connector at the bottom of the cushion with the top of the gas lift and press down vertically until fully inserted. This step requires both hands to ensure that the cushion and the gas lift are axially aligned, preventing misalignment that could cause abnormal lifting function. After insertion, gently shake the cushion to check for stability.

5. Install the Armrests
Align the armrests with the side holes of the cushion according to the markings (such as 'L' for left, 'R' for right, or front/back directions) and loosely secure them with screws. Do not tighten the screws at this stage to allow for adjustments when aligning with the backrest later. The height of the armrests should be flush with the edge of the cushion to avoid discomfort during use.

6. Install the Backrest
Align the bottom holes of the backrest with the screw holes at the back end of the armrests. First, install the bottom screws (do not tighten them yet), then align the top holes and install the screws. The backrest should be installed vertically, which can be checked with a level or by visual inspection. Once the position is confirmed, use a screwdriver to tighten all screws uniformly to prevent the backrest from wobbling.

7. Install the Headrest (Optional)
If the chair is equipped with an adjustable headrest, secure it manually with triangular screws. Some models may allow the headrest to be pre-installed before attaching the backrest, and its height should be adjusted according to the instructions. The headrest should fit snugly against the backrest to prevent sliding during use.

8. Final Inspection and Adjustment

  • Screw Tightening: Use a screwdriver to check all screws one by one to ensure they are not loose.
  • Function Testing: Repeatedly lift and lower the cushion, rotate the chair, and adjust the backrest angle to confirm that all components operate smoothly.
  • Decorative Cap Installation: Some chairs may require decorative caps to be installed on the seat base or backrest to cover the screw holes and enhance aesthetics.

Precautions:

  • Prepare all necessary tools in advance to avoid interruptions during assembly.
  • Ergonomic chairs must be assembled strictly in the 'bottom-up' order to prevent uneven weight distribution on components.
  • Avoid excessive force during operation, especially when tightening screws. Adjust in stages to prevent stripping.
  • If assembly is difficult or components do not match, immediately contact the seller for video guidance or replacement parts.
