Unit Price of Apple's Office Chair
The unit price of the office chairs used in Apple's new headquarters, Apple Park, is $1,185 (approximately RMB 7,709). Here are the details:
The office chairs at Apple Park are sourced from the renowned furniture brand Vitra, with the model being the 'Pacific Chair'. Designed by British designers Barber & Osgerby, this chair focuses on ergonomics, featuring a high-strength aluminum alloy frame and adjustable components that support multi-angle tilting and height adjustment to accommodate users of different body types. Its seat cushion and backrest are filled with high-density foam and covered with wear-resistant fabric or leather, balancing comfort and durability. The chair's minimalist and modern design style highly aligns with the minimalist architectural philosophy of Apple Park, making it an iconic piece of furniture in Apple's office environment.
From a cost perspective, the $1,185 price tag reflects the market positioning of high-end office chairs. Design and R&D expenses are a significant component. As an internationally renowned design team, Barber & Osgerby typically charge high design fees, and their designs require multiple rounds of prototype testing and optimization. In terms of material costs, the selection of aluminum alloy frames, high-density foam, and high-quality fabric or leather all increase the manufacturing cost of a single chair. Brand premium cannot be overlooked either. As a high-end furniture brand, Vitra's product pricing includes brand value and market positioning factors. Additionally, customization services (such as special color schemes or logos that Apple may request) may further drive up the price.
It should be noted that this price is only for the specific model purchased in bulk by Apple Park, and the actual retail price may vary depending on configuration, region, and sales channel. For example, leather versions are typically more expensive than fabric versions, and bulk purchases may enjoy certain discounts. For ordinary consumers looking to purchase high-end office chairs with a similar design, they can refer to the quotes from Vitra's official channels or authorized dealers, but they should clarify the product model and configuration to avoid price confusion.
