Anti-Collision Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

An anti-collision office chair is a type of office furniture that prioritizes safety in material selection and structural design, with its core function being to reduce the risk of collision injuries and meet safety standards such as fire resistance.

Material Selection and Fire Resistance

The main frame of anti-collision office chairs is often made of solid wood, covered with a flame-retardant coating. This coating combines chemical flame retardants with wood fibers to form a high-temperature-resistant layer, significantly slowing down the burning speed and reducing smoke emissions, in compliance with national fire safety standards (e.g., GB 8624-2012). Some products also add flame retardants to soft materials like sponge, but caution should be exercised regarding low-priced products that may have substandard flame retardants, posing an increased fire risk.

Anti-Collision Functional Design

The anti-collision function is mainly achieved through two methods:

  1. Edge Wrapping with Soft Materials: High-density sponge, for example, is used to cover the edges or protruding parts of the chair, reducing the impact force during collisions through cushioning.
  2. Solid Wood Rounded Corners: The edges and corners of the chair are designed to be rounded, preventing sharp edges from directly contacting the human body and reducing the risk of cuts or bruises. According to ergonomic requirements, the thickness of the edge cushioning is recommended to be no less than 2 centimeters, and the radius of the rounded corners should be greater than 1 centimeter to ensure protective effectiveness.

Structural Stability and Brand Differences

Different brands exhibit variations in structural design:

  • Jinglilun: Adopts a fully wrapped flexible design, minimizing hard contact surfaces, while ensuring tight assembly of the chair without loosening or detachment issues, suitable for scenarios with high safety requirements.
  • Lingyang Color: Emphasizes the need to be cautious about insufficient steel thickness in low-priced products, which may lead to reduced load-bearing capacity or structural deformation of the chair, increasing safety hazards.

Style and Customization

Chinese-style anti-collision office chairs often incorporate traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, reducing the use of metal connectors and further enhancing safety. Additionally, most brands support both standard sizes and customized production, allowing adjustments to dimensions based on room layout to meet personalized needs.

Safety Standards and Purchase Recommendations

When purchasing, it is essential to confirm that the product complies with relevant national standards (e.g., GB 8624-2012) and prioritize brands that have passed authoritative certifications. At the same time, details such as the thickness of the edge cushioning and the radius of the rounded corners should be inspected to avoid protective failures due to design defects.
