Assembly of Air-Cushion Office Chair
Admin October 22, 2026
The assembly of an air-cushion office chair (with a pneumatic rod design) should follow a standardized process. The specific steps are as follows:

I. Pre-assembly Preparation
- Inventory of Components: Confirm that the package includes a five-star base, 5 casters, a pneumatic rod, a seat plate (tray), a seat cushion, a backrest, armrests, a screw pack, and installation tools (such as an Allen wrench and screwdriver). Some models may include a headrest, which should be checked separately.
- Tool Preparation: Prioritize using the tools provided by the manufacturer. If any are missing, you can prepare a rubber mallet (for tapping the pneumatic rod) and a tape measure (for assistance with adjustments).
II. Core Assembly Steps (Bottom-Up)
Install the Five-Star Base and Casters
- Place the five-star base with the front side up. Take one caster and align it with a base hole, pressing vertically until you hear a 'click' indicating it is securely fastened. If the casters are threaded, tighten them clockwise.
- After installation, gently shake the five-star base to check if the casters are firmly attached, preventing instability during movement.
Install the Pneumatic Rod
- Insert the thicker end of the pneumatic rod (with a hole) vertically into the center hole of the five-star base, pressing firmly to the bottom to ensure a complete fit.
- If there is a plastic protective cap on the top of the pneumatic rod, remove it in advance; otherwise, it may affect the connection between the seat and the pneumatic rod.
Attach the Seat Plate to the Seat Cushion
- Turn the seat cushion upside down to expose the bottom and locate the pre-installed screw holes.
- Align the holes on the seat plate with those on the seat cushion, hand-tighten the screws initially, and then gradually tighten all screws using the 'diagonal tightening method' to prevent the seat plate from tilting and causing an uneven seat.
Connect the Seat Cushion to the Pneumatic Rod
- Lift the seat cushion with the attached seat plate and align it with the top of the pneumatic rod, pressing vertically to ensure complete insertion and preventing separation between the seat and the pneumatic rod.
Install the Backrest and Armrests
- Backrest: Align the holes on the backrest with those on the back of the seat cushion. First, install the bottom screws (do not tighten them completely), then lift the backrest and install the top screws. Finally, tighten all screws to ensure the backrest is vertical.
- Armrests: Pay attention to the front-back and left-right positions. Do not tighten the screws completely during installation; wait until the backrest is fixed before fully tightening them to prevent the armrests from tilting.
Install the Headrest (if applicable)
- Insert the headrest into the้ข็ (pre-made) hole at the top of the backrest and adjust the angle according to the instructions to ensure comfortable head support.
III. Adjustment and Inspection
- Adjust the height adjustment function of the pneumatic rod to ensure the seat can move up and down smoothly without jamming or unusual noises.
- Check if all screws are tightened and shake the chair to test its stability, focusing on the connection points between the five-star base, the pneumatic rod, and the backrest fixation points.
Precautions:
- The pneumatic rod is the core load-bearing component. During installation, ensure it is fully inserted into the center hole of the five-star base to prevent seat tilting or damage due to poor contact.
- If the pneumatic rod is too tightly fitted with the chair base and difficult to remove, gently tap the inverted pneumatic rod on the chair base with a rubber mallet. Do not strike violently to avoid deforming the components.
- For specific operations, refer to the product manual for detailed adjustments, as different brands and models may have variations.
