Adjusting Office Chair Height
Here are the methods for adjusting the height of an office chair:

Step 1: Locate the Hand Control Device If you are already seated on the chair, you can raise the height by pulling up the control lever. For some models, you may need to turn a knob instead of pulling a lever. If you are unsure about the specific operation, you can read the chair's user manual or try each lever one by one until you find the correct component for controlling the height. The control device is usually located on both sides beneath the seat. In some designs, it may be hidden near the armrests or the base, so careful observation or touch is required for confirmation.
Step 2: Adjust the Seat Height When operating, be gentle and slow, moving only a few centimeters at a time to avoid imbalance caused by rapid lifting or lowering. After adjusting to a comfortable position, return the control lever or knob to its original position to lock the height. Different models may have different operating logics:
- Pneumatic Lifting Model: You need to repeatedly push the lever up and down (pumping) to achieve lifting and lowering, similar to the action of pumping a bicycle tire.
- Mechanical Lifting Model: Pull the lever upward to raise the seat and press it downward to lower the seat.
- Knob Adjustment Model: Turn the knob clockwise or counterclockwise to gradually adjust the height.
Step 3: Adjust with a Standing Posture If adjusting while seated is difficult, you can try adjusting while standing: Align the front of the chair with the area just below your knees. When you sit down, your feet should naturally rest flat on the ground, and your back should fit snugly against the backrest. This method can avoid height judgment errors caused by sitting posture limitations and is especially suitable for first-time users or those with special body types.
Step 4: Verify Ergonomic Standards After adjustment, check the key parameters:
- Feet Flat on the Ground: Ensure that the soles of your feet are in full contact with the ground, avoidingๆฌ็ฉบ (hanging in the air) or excessive forward stretching.
- Leg Angle: There should be a 95ยฐ-100ยฐ angle between your thighs and calves. This angle can distribute your body weight and reduce lumbar spine pressure.
- Elbow Height: When your arms hang naturally, your elbows should be level with the desktop to avoid shrugging or bending forward.
If the adjustment still does not meet the standards, recheck the operation of the control device or consider that there may be a malfunction with the chair itself (such as a leaking pneumatic rod or a stuck mechanical structure). In this case, it is recommended to contact after-sales service for repair. During daily use, it is advisable to make minor posture adjustments every 30 minutes to avoid muscle fatigue caused by maintaining the same height for a long time.
