Usage of Adjustable Office Chair
Admin October 09, 2026
The usage of an adjustable office chair mainly consists of two parts: lowering the seat and raising the seat. The specific operations are as follows:

Lowering the Seat
- Confirm a Safe Environment: Before operating, ensure there are no obstacles around the seat to avoid collisions or falls during the adjustment process. At the same time, maintain a stable posture and keep your body balanced to prevent losing your center of gravity due to improper operation.
- Identify the Lifting Control Lever: It is usually located on the right side or in the middle at the bottom of the seat. Its design varies, and it could be a lever, a knob, or a button switch. The position and style of the control lever may differ among office chairs of different brands and models, so careful searching and identification are required.
- Adjust Your Posture: Place your feet flat on the ground and keep your back straight. This allows your body to be in a stable and comfortable position. At the same time, ensure your hands can easily reach the control lever for subsequent operations.
- Gently Press/Pull the Control Lever: Depending on the design type of the control lever, apply a uniform and moderate force to press down or pull up the lever to activate the lowering mechanism. Avoid sudden force during this process to prevent damage to the lifting mechanism of the seat or excessive lowering speed that could lead to danger.
- Slowly Adjust to the Appropriate Height: After the control lever activates the lowering mechanism, adjust the lever slowly according to your personal needs to control the lowering speed and range of the seat until it reaches a comfortable height.
- Release the Control Lever and Confirm Stability: When the seat is adjusted to the appropriate height, release the control lever and let the lifting mechanism lock automatically. Then, gently shake the seat to confirm its stability and ensure there is no wobbling or tilting during use.
Raising the Seat
- Principle of the Highest Point: Open the pneumatic rod to allow the free flow of gas between the upper and lower parts of the piston. Due to the higher pressure above, it will push the piston position downward, and the piston rod will extend downward, thus raising the seat surface. When the chair reaches its highest point, it is in a state where the gas above and below the piston is relatively balanced without external force. When not in use for a long time, raise the chair to its highest point to make the gas pressure above and below the piston uniform, which is beneficial for the chair.
- Principle of the Lowest Point: After the chair is raised to its highest point, the gas above and below the piston is under relatively balanced force. When a person sits on the chair, it will compress the air above the piston, making its pressure much greater than that of the air below. At this time, open the adjustment lever, and the air above the piston will be compressed to below the piston, causing the piston position to move upward and the seat surface height to decrease. When the seat surface height no longer changes, it indicates that the gas pressure above and below the piston is relatively balanced.
