Explosion Prevention for Adjustable Office Chairs

Admin October 10, 2026

The explosion prevention measures for adjustable office chairs mainly include adding explosion-proof steel plates and equipping explosion-proof chassis. These designs can effectively reduce explosion risks, but they need to be combined with standardized use to ensure safety.

The explosion risk of adjustable office chairs mainly stems from their core componentโ€”the pneumatic rod. The pneumatic rod achieves seat height adjustment through high-pressure gas. If the internally filled gas is impure (such as being mixed with oxygen or other combustible gases), the sealing structure ages and breaks, or low-quality materials are used, resulting in insufficient pressure resistance, a sudden increase in internal pressure may be triggered under high temperatures, frequent height adjustments, or external impacts, ultimately leading to an explosion. Although the probability of such accidents is relatively low, the consequences are severe, and technical means are required for prevention.

Adding explosion-proof steel plates is one of the key protective measures. Explosion-proof steel plates are usually installed at the connection point between the seat bottom and the pneumatic rod, with a general thickness of 2-3 millimeters. Their function is as follows: When the pneumatic rod accidentally explodes, the steel plate can block high-speed flying metal fragments and prevent direct harm to the user. Some high-end products adopt double-layer steel plates or composite material structures to further enhance the protection level.

The design of the explosion-proof chassis is also crucial. The explosion-proof chassis enhances overall stability by optimizing its structure, such as using thicker steel, adding support ribs, or improving the fixing method. This type of chassis can disperse the impact force when the pneumatic rod explodes, preventing the seat from tipping over or the chassis from breaking, while also limiting the spread range of explosion fragments. Some products also have protective rims around the chassis edges to further reduce the risk of fragment splashing.

It should be noted that the effectiveness of explosion prevention measures depends on standardized use. Users should avoid prolonged exposure of the seat to sunlight (high temperatures may accelerate the aging of the pneumatic rod), prohibit the random disassembly or modification of the pneumatic rod, and regularly check the structural integrity of the seat. When purchasing, choose products that have passed national safety certifications. Prioritize models that are clearly labeled with explosion-proof designs and pneumatic rod grades (such as Class 3 or Class 4) to reduce risks from the source.
