Adjustable Office Chair Deflation

Admin October 19, 2026

Deflation of adjustable office chairs can be addressed through deflation operations, replacing the air pump, inspecting and repairing leaking parts, or seeking professional repair services. Details are as follows:

Deflation Operations: There are two common methods. Method one involves flipping the seat, removing the four fastening bolts to separate the seat from the legs, and placing the seat legs back in position; lifting the seat to its highest position using the handle, and using pliers to pull out the blue button; locating the small dot (deflation valve) in the button hole, and using a thin welding rod or other suitable substitute to press down the deflation valve to release the gas. Note that the force should be even and gentle, and it is normal for there to be a loud noise during deflation. Finally, reassemble everything as it was. Method two involves locating the pneumatic rod at the bottom of the chair, unscrewing the cap on the pneumatic rod, and slowly releasing the gas. However, improper operation or rapid deflation by oneself can be dangerous. If unsure or having difficulties, it is not recommended to operate by oneself; professional assistance should be sought for deflation.

Replacing the Air Pump: Purchase a new air pump from a furniture store that sells chairs. The air pump is usually installed between the stainless steel base and the steel plate beneath the chair, with detachable ends. After purchase, simply replace the old one with the new one.

Inspecting and Repairing Leaking Parts: First, inspect the piston seal inside the cylinder. Damage to the piston seal inside the cylinder may cause air leakage, reducing the pressure difference on both sides of the piston and causing the chair to descend. The cylinder needs to be disassembled to check if the seal is intact, and replaced if damaged. Second, inspect the valve. Air leakage from the valve may also prevent the adjustable chair from functioning normally. Check if the valve is closed tightly, and repair or replace it if it is loose or damaged.

Seeking Professional Repair Services: If you are unable to determine the cause of the air leakage or do not possess the repair skills, it is recommended to send the adjustable chair to a professional repair department for inspection and repair. Professional repair personnel have extensive experience and specialized tools, enabling them to more accurately diagnose the problem and perform effective repairs, ensuring the adjustable chair returns to normal use.
