Adjustable Office Chair Cleaning
The cleaning of adjustable office chairs should be carried out using appropriate methods based on their material and structural characteristics, as detailed below:

I. Cleaning of Hydraulic Adjustable Chairs
Hydraulic adjustable chairs can be washed with water, but strict conditions must be followed. The water temperature should be below 40โ, as excessive heat can accelerate the aging of rubber tubes and seals. The amount of water used should be moderate to prevent liquid from seeping into the internal hydraulic system, which could cause oil leakage or malfunction of the lifting mechanism. Strong acid or alkaline cleaners are prohibited, as these substances can corrode metal components or hydraulic oil. It is recommended to use neutral detergents. After cleaning, thoroughly dry the surface and crevices with a dry cloth to prevent rusting of metal parts. If the hydraulic rod is stained with oil, it can be wiped with a cotton cloth dipped in a small amount of alcohol, but avoid the sealed joints.
II. Cleaning of Mesh-Material Adjustable Chairs
- Daily Cleaning: Without a vacuum cleaner, first remove dust with a feather duster, then wipe with a soft cloth dampened with diluted neutral detergent (1:20 ratio) and wrung out. For stubborn stains, gently brush with a soft-bristled brush. Hard-bristled brushes are prohibited to prevent pilling of the mesh. After cleaning, allow to air dry naturally or use a hairdryer on the cool setting (at a distance of over 30cm) to speed up drying. Avoid direct high-temperature airflow to prevent deformation of the mesh.
- Deep Cleaning: With a vacuum cleaner, first use a wide-nozzle attachment to clean dust from crevices, then spray a specialized mesh cleaner (test for colorfastness beforehand), let it sit for 5 minutes, and then extract and dry with a high-temperature steam cleaner. Without professional equipment, repeat the daily cleaning steps and then air dry in a well-ventilated area for 24 hours.
- Stubborn Stain Removal: Mesh chairs that have not been cleaned for a long time should be taken to a professional agency for thorough cleaning through steps such as sorting and pre-treatment, ultrasonic brushing, and steam sterilization. Avoid self-treatment to prevent tearing of the mesh.
III. Cleaning of Adjustable Chairs with Other Materials
- Leather/PU Materials: Use a specialized dry cleaner. Dip a sponge into the cleaner and wipe in a circular motion. Water washing or exposure to sunlight is prohibited, as it can cause cracking or fading of the leather. After cleaning, apply a matching conditioner to maintain surface luster.
- Plastic Components: Wipe with diluted neutral cleaner (such as dish soap), focusing on dust in crevices of armrests and star bases. If oxidation and yellowing occur, gently polish with toothpaste or baking soda, but promptly wipe away any residue.
IV. General Precautions
- Before Cleaning: Always check the chair's label or manual to confirm the material and cleaning restrictions, such as some imported chairs may be labeled 'dry clean only'.
- Cleaning Frequency: It is recommended to clean the chair once every quarter. If in a dusty environment or if liquids are spilled, immediate treatment is necessary to prevent stain penetration.
- Troubleshooting: If the hydraulic system is flooded with water or cleaning agent residue causes lifting stuttering or abnormal noises, immediately stop using and contact a professional repair technician. Do not disassemble the hydraulic rod yourself to avoid the risk of high-pressure oil spray.
