2280 Office Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

QB/T 2280-2016 is the light industry standard for 'Office Furniture - Office Chairs', specifying the testing items and requirements for office chairs and applicable to the quality assessment of indoor work chairs.

I. Scope and Core Content of the Standard

The QB/T 2280-2016 standard is explicitly applicable to indoor work chairs, with similar chairs used in other settings able to refer to it. Its core content includes terminology definitions, product classification, technical requirements, testing methods, inspection rules, and aspects such as marking, packaging, transportation, and storage, providing a systematic framework for quality control of office chairs.

II. Classification of Main Testing Items

  1. Basic Physical Properties

    • Dimensions and Deviations: Includes main dimensions, lifting travel, backrest eccentricity, shape symmetry, left-right level deviation of the seat surface, and ground stability, ensuring the chair's structure conforms to ergonomics and meets stability standards.
    • Material Properties: The density of soft polyurethane foam, wood moisture content, formaldehyde emission from artificial boards, etc., are directly related to the chair's comfort and environmental friendliness. For example, formaldehyde emission must comply with national mandatory standards to avoid indoor air pollution.
  2. Structural Safety and Durability

    • Stability Testing: Simulates actual usage scenarios to test the chair's resistance to tipping when tilted or under force.
    • Load Testing: Includes seat impact, combined static load testing of the seat and backrest, vertical/horizontal static load testing of armrests, etc., to verify the load-bearing capacity and structural strength of various chair components.
    • Durability Testing: Such as combined durability testing of the seat and backrest, reciprocating durability testing of the backrest, reciprocating wear testing of casters, etc., simulates wear after long-term use to ensure the product's lifespan meets requirements.
  3. Surface and Coating Properties

    • The adhesion and impact resistance of coatings on wooden parts and soft/hard coverings, as well as the salt bath corrosion resistance and adhesion of coatings on metal parts, directly determine the chair's appearance durability and rust resistance.
  4. Special Properties and Safety

    • Flame Retardancy: For office chairs used in public places, they must pass flame retardancy tests to reduce fire risks.
    • TVOC Detection: Evaluates the total volatile organic compound content emitted by the chair to ensure indoor air quality.
    • Pneumatic Rod Durability: For chairs with lifting functions, tests the repeated lifting performance and safety of the pneumatic rod.

III. Application and Significance of the Standard

This standard serves as an important basis for quality supervision and random inspections of office chair products. Enterprises can enhance their market competitiveness by self-declaring that their products meet its technical requirements. When selecting products, consumers can refer to the testing items in the standard, focusing on indicators such as formaldehyde emission, stability, and durability to ensure the product is safe and durable.
