2018 Office Chair
The information about office chairs in 2018 covers three aspects: installation, safety requirement testing standards, and testing standards, as detailed below:

Installation
The installation of the 2018A office chair must be carried out strictly in accordance with the video instructions. When installing the base casters, use screw H, washer K, and washer O; for installing the chassis, use screw P and washer L, following the same steps as for installing the base casters. In the finished product display section, also follow the video instructions, using parts J and L from the drawings; then, again following the video, use screw K and washer H, as well as screw H, washer K, and washer O for installation.
Safety Requirement Testing Standards
EN1335 - 2:2018 is the testing standard for the safety requirements of office chair furniture. This standard mainly describes the safety and durability requirements for office chairs and does not apply to other seats in office areas that have already implemented European standards. Based on the scenario of a 110-kilogram person using the chair for 8 hours a day, it defines the safety, strength, and durability requirements for all types of non-domestic seats (including office visitor seats). Generally, office chairs need to meet diverse requirements to ensure users can work comfortably, such as being height-adjustable and having a backrest that can be adjusted in height and tilt, which are important health and safety requirements.
Testing Standards
- Background and Purpose: With the changes in modern office work styles, office chairs have become important equipment in the workplace, and their performance and safety directly affect employee health and work efficiency. Therefore, the new office chair testing standard EN1335 - 1:2018 has been formulated to evaluate the performance and safety of office chairs, ensure they meet user needs, reduce potential risks, and provide a unified testing method for all parties to evaluate and compare different brands and models of office chairs.
- Testing Scope: It covers components such as the seat, backrest, armrests, and footrests of office chairs. The testing content includes mechanical strength, stability, the elasticity of the seat cushion and backrest, the adjustment range of the armrests, etc. It also specifies requirements for the size, materials, and labels of office chairs.
- Testing Methods: These include mechanical strength testing, which detects the strength and stability of each component by applying a certain force; stability testing, which checks stability under different conditions; seat cushion and backrest elasticity testing, which evaluates elasticity and comfort by detecting reactions under different pressures; armrest adjustment range testing, which assesses adaptability and comfort by detecting the adjustment range at different positions; and size, material, and label testing, which ensures quality and safety by checking compliance with standard requirements.
- Main Testing Items: These cover general design requirements; stability tests (such as seat front edge stability tests and forward stability tests); static pressure tests including seat front static pressure tests and seat and back static pressure tests; durability tests such as seat and backrest tests (260,000 cycles) and armrest tests; and rotation resistance tests, etc.
